Award Winning Residential Designs for Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula

Junk Sculpture Contest

Drummond Island Design, Inc. and Architecture, etc. Ltd. has sponsored the Junk* Sculpture Contest in June, since the Drummond Island Sesquicentennial Celebration in 2003. This contest was born on a long car ride during a discussion about 'found object art'. Both local and nationally renowned artists have used junk found on beaches, on roadsides, in garages and in junk yards to create *found object art sculptures and have actually made a decent living selling them. We are happy to say that the 1st Place Winner for the 2005 Junk Sculpture Contest has done just that... and he is now selling his sculptures at The Islander Shoppe on Drummond Island. Over the years, the contest entries proved that Drummond Island has many 'found object' artists. So, rummage through storage barns, garages and basements, look on beaches and along road sides for found objects to create your *found object sculpture. Please contact Lynne Coulter through this web site if you are interested in entering next year's Junk Sculpture Contest on Drummond Island. Who knows... you just may uncover a hidden talent in you too!
